Recent reports on social media have sparked confusion around the Netflix release of Dhurandhar, with several posts claiming that the film has been cut or edited for its OTT debut. However, sources close to the film have firmly dismissed these rumours, calling them completely inaccurate and misleading.
Insiders confirmed to Moneycontrol, Dhurandhar is streaming on Netflix exactly as it was presented in cinemas and approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The speculation appears to have stemmed from a minor difference in runtime, which some viewers interpreted as evidence of deleted scenes or altered content. In reality, this variation is routine and has nothing to do with creative cuts.
A source clarified the situation unequivocally, stating, "It is the same as the theatrical / CBFC-approved version. As with all theatrical films, the three-minute runtime difference is due to elements such as interval plates or in-theatre ad requirements that do not carry over to digital platforms. This is business as usual and standard practice when films transition from cinemas to streaming."
Industry professionals note that such runtime differences are common when films move from the big screen to OTT platforms. In theatres, films often include interval cards, sponsor slides or built-in pauses designed to accommodate advertisements.
These elements are naturally removed for digital viewing, where the experience is uninterrupted. As a result, the film may appear slightly shorter on streaming platforms, even though the actual narrative content remains untouched.
In the case of Dhurandhar, the difference reportedly amounts to only a few minutes, reinforcing that no scenes, dialogues or sequences have been removed or altered for Netflix audiences. Those who watched the film in theatres and later revisited it online are essentially seeing the same version, just without the theatrical formatting.

The clarification comes at a time when Dhurandhar has found renewed popularity on OTT, with audiences rewatching the film and revisiting its performances and action sequences. As online discussions intensified, the rumour of edits quickly gained traction, prompting the need for an official clarification to set the record straight.
Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. The film follows a high-stakes spy mission orchestrated by India’s Intelligence Bureau. Its sequel, Dhurandhar 2, is set to release on March 19, 2026.
