Officials said the turnout reflected growing interest beyond major metropolitan hubs. The choice of Nanchang as host underlined Jiangxi’s push to build multi-sport ecosystems around modern venues and community engagement. Spectators filled the stands as matches unfolded simultaneously on adjacent courts, creating a festival-like atmosphere around a sport still new to many Chinese fans.
Pickleball’s appeal in China has been driven by its accessibility and fast learning curve, making it attractive to athletes transitioning from badminton, table tennis and tennis.
