Kangana Ranaut vs Gen Z: 'Cockroach' comments trigger outrage

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has done it again. She's back with another firestorm. Remember there have been so many times that she has made comments which has embarrassed her party that in fact the party had more than once told her not to make any comments. She launched a blistering attack on the Jantar Mantar protesters after videos and reels showing protesters hurling abuses went viral. Kangana Ranaut targeted young Hindu women calling them ugly and corrupt, claiming they can't be homemakers either. She even said women protesters were there to flaunt freedom for drugs and endless body counts. That's the member of parliament from the BJP speaking. She called Gen Z's reels were puke inducing and said she had never seen so much ugliness in one space. compared them to actual cockroaches, even questioned who is birthing and raising them. These remarks have triggered a massive political storm. Congress questioned Kangana Ranaut's remarks, asking being a woman herself, how does she feel? Does she feel no remorse? Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party called on Prime Minister Modi to take cognizance of her language. She's done it again. Not on the big screen this time, but on social media. Kangana Ranaut triggered a massive political storm after launching a scathing attack on Gen Z protesters. She unleashed a blistering critique of viral protest reels. The BJP MP from Mandi called the youth the generation gutter. But that was just the beginning. In a second, far more provocative post, Ranaut turned her fire on young Indian women. Branding the entire generation as cockroaches, she called Gen-Z protest reels puke-inducing. Targeting the concept of the westernized Indian woman, Kangana went on to say that young Hindu women are so ugly and corrupt that they can't become homemakers. The opposition isn't holding back. Congress is furious over BJP MP's comments, asking whether Kangana feels no remorse. The Samajwadi party and JMM joined the chorus of outrage, accusing the MP of insulting an entire generation of women. It's very sad that such kind of statement is coming from a member of parliament who who has worked in this industry, who does a very good job. But we strongly condemn her sensitive statement. We should not pay attention to her comment. She always talks nonsense. It is against the country. If she calls the students of the country disgusting, then you can understand her mentality. This is not a healthy mentality. AIMIM has gone a step further, demanding Prime Minister Modi to take note. Kangana Ranaut is used to this kind of nonsense. Ask her if she knows the full form of NEET. She might not know. The question being asked across party lines. How could a woman say this about other women? The BJP so far has stayed silent. All right, we will have to wait and see how her party reacts with one thing that at least some all of us would have learned from this protest is that there is no point going after the Gen Z. They don't care. All right. You saw a lot of Instagram memes, language that most of us were finding very difficult to try and palate and understand. The Gen Z lingo made an unusual appearance in the parliament as MPs prepared their speeches with terms like FOMO, Dululu and clocked it, bringing internet language or lingo into the Lok Sabha. The use of youth-centric expression added a contemporary twist to the debate, reflecting how much social media language is increasingly finding its way in political discourse also. All these parliamentarians, though themselves are not Gen Z, trying to force their way that somehow they are relatable to the new generation. Take a look. I will have to say Modi ji clocked it and provided a legislative solution. But while Narendra Modi provided an anti-paper leak law, a very robust law which today is being even more formidable, all that the opposition did was chase political opportunism. The difference is clear. The difference is not only of the government. The difference is of the thinking as well. The mantra of UPA is delay, deflect and deny. The mantra of Modi is detect, decide and deliver. Even if they have seen, they will not say. They know that all the children are on our side. No one's children are on their side. Their next generation is not with them. They are not with us either. What Supriya Soule said, that's 2029 elections and why is everybody scrambling over their head to try and make this outreach to the young people because by 2029 when that crucial election takes place, Generation Z, Gen Z will be comprising those aged between 18 to 32 is expected to be 380 million, making it India's largest adult generation, also making it India's most important voting group. This is the NDTV data file, in fact, finding that they have, you know, taken and put across Gen Z to be India's largest voting bloc in 2029. And that is why you see all those Instagram videos and the kind of language that MPs and the politicians are using. One in four Indians eligible to vote in 2029 will belong to Generation Z. That is the world population prospect 2024 by the United Nations. Let me just tell you exactly how this puts the India's demographic map, you know, at that point of time, Jen alpha, which is zero to 17% years of age, they are not going to vote in 2029, they are going to be about zero point, they are going to be about 27.6%. Gen Z 380 million, about 25.1% of overall population. And of course, that becomes the most important voting block because the millennials between 33 to 48 years will be about 23.6% and Gen X 49 to 64% will be about 15.5%. And those boomers between 65 to 83 will be 7.7%. And that is why you see a mad scramble of all the political parties trying to speak their language trying to make people reach out to the Gen Z because they become the most important number when it comes to 2029. From young India to older India, this also signifies the whole demographic dividend that we keep talking about, about a young country. The share of children shrinks sharply as the older age groups expand. Let's just take a look by 2029. Our share of population of 62 and above is going to increase from 9.9% currently to about 11.3%, 45 to 61 is also increasing to just about 0.3% to 18.6% 30 to 44 remains almost steady. In fact, there is a 5% decrease. So now younger the population, you will see the increase as far as people, our population is concerned, 18 to 29 from 20.5% comes down to 19.8%. And under 18, also sees a little bit of decrease with 27.8% going down to 27.3%. So just when you are going over 44, you are seeing the increase in the numbers. And when you are coming under 44, the numbers are decreasing, which tells you that the country's older population will be expanding while the younger one is slowing down. We are slipping into a very short break at this moment, coming back with much more on the other side.
